During the week ending October 28, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have indicated a stable trend, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been slacker than the previous week and is currently at medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, PPGI futures prices in China have generally indicated a stable trend , providing support for the stable movement of PPGI prices in the spot market. With the increases in steel billet prices, most PPGI traders hold an optimistic view of the future prospects for the PPGI market, though transaction activity has been slacker than in the previous week. Meanwhile, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have increased and inventories of PPGI in the market are at low levels, and these factors will provide support for PPGI prices. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely continue to move on a stable trend in the coming week.
