A source linked to an exporter in Brazil told SteelOrbis that his last deal to export hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US was closed at $630/mt, FOB conditions, against $625/mt earlier this month.

He added that he remains optimistic on sales of HDG to the US, in both volume and price, ascribing his optimism to the increased demand from the US and reduced availability of the product in Brazil, due to the reduced steel production in the country: “we currently have four blast furnaces idled, a record in recent years,” he said.

In March, Brazil exported 43,000 mt of HDG to the US at $513/mt, FOB conditions, price deals probably closed in January.
