According to market sources, demand for hot dip galvanized (HDG) products in the local Turkish market has been sluggish following the slight recovery seen last week. Cold weather conditions in Turkey and declines recorded in hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the global markets have given rise to expectations for a downward trend in the Turkish HDG market. As a result, buyers are reported to be cautious, while producers are unwilling to reduce their HDG prices.
In the Turkish domestic market, HDG sales prices have remained unchanged over the past week for February and March shipments and are currently as follows:
Product | Price ($/mt) |
HDG 0.50 mm 100gr/m² | 670-690 |
HDG 1 mm 100gr/m² | 625-635 |
HDG 2 mm 100gr/m² | 600-610 |
The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.
Meanwhile, demand for Turkish HDG exports has nearly come to a halt. Attractive HDG offers from China and Italy in the international market have reduced the competitiveness of Turkish HDG export offers, which have remained unchanged over the past week in the range of $670-690/mt FOB for shipments in March and April.
