The base price for the negotiation of slabs exports from Brazil is now in the $400/mt to $410/mt range, FOB conditions, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

Such price range compares with a range of $390/mt to $410/mt last week, in line with increased international prices.

In November, CSP exported its slabs at $315/mt, ArcelorMittal Tubarao at $330/mt and ThyssenKrupp CSA at $352/mt, with price deals probably closed in September.

Asia was the top destination (134,400mt), followed by the US (121,200mt), the EU (90,700mt), Mexico (40,700mt), Turkey (30,900mt) and Canada (28,100mt).

Preliminary figures by the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC, indicate that slabs exports in December are declining in volume from November.
