Slab of the basic commercial grades are now being negotiated at $375/mt, FOB conditions, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

The price compares with a range of $400/mt to $405/mt over the last two weeks, the source said, adding that the reduction reflects a downtrend of prices in the worldwide steel production chain, from iron ore to HRC.

In May, for price deals probably closed in March, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem exported slab at $410/mt, ArcelorMittal Tubarao at $431/mt, ThyssenKrupp CSA at $446/mt and Gerdau Acominas at $393/mt, all FOB conditions.
