While a recovery of demand has been expected in the Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) market with the arrival of spring, so far demand has not reached the anticipated levels. Meanwhile, the general downward trend in the global market has weakened foreign demand for ex-Turkey PPGI offers, while the price decline in the local hot rolled coil (HRC) market has been putting downside pressure on hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices, the feedstock material for coated products, resulting in softer demand for PPGI. In the meantime, local and export prices for PPGI have remained stable since last week.
Turkish mills' offers for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are still standing at $1,070-1,140/mt, while offers for RAL 9002 0.5-0.55 mm are at $925-940/mt and prices for RAL 9002 1 mm stand at $840-880/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.
