With the beginning of this week, demand in the European flat steel market, which had been weak over the past month, has recovered since the holiday season has ended, while buyers have started to make inquiries.

In early September, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Europe have increased by €35/mt on average to €520-560/mt ($624-672/mt), cold rolled coil (CRC) have risen by €30/mt to €600-640/mt ($720-768/mt) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have moved up by €40/mt to €630-680/mt ($756-816/mt), all ex-works.

Market sources state that the higher prices in the European flat steel market have gained acceptance and that demand is expected to remain strong until the Christmas holiday, while prices may also increase further in the coming period.
