SteelOrbis has been informed that ArcelorMittal's base prices for April production HDG in the Polish market are currently standing at the level of €450/mt ($616/mt) ex-works, indicating a €40/mt decrease compared to last month. Meanwhile, it is possible to find February production CRC from the same producer at €400/mt ($548/mt) ex-works, and HRC at €320/mt ($438/mt) ex-works, both down €50/mt and €30/mt month on month respectively.
Looking at the import flats offers in the Polish market, Slovakian origin HRC from U.S. Steel Kosice is being offered to Poland in the range of €310-320/mt ($424-438/mt) DAF, indicating a €15/mt decrease compared to last month. Hungarian origin Dunafer production HRC is being offered to the same country at €310/mt ($424/mt) DAF, marking a €20/mt drop compared to last month. Meanwhile, Russian producer Severstal is offering HRC to Poland at €320/mt ($438/mt) DAF, i.e. a decline of €20/mt month on month. All import offers are valid for April output.
In line with our expectations at the end of January, prices moved on a flat trend in February, due to the considerable impact of capacity contractions and cost pressure on the market. However, the flat trend in question came to a halt with the price decreases seen in March. In short, in the local Polish market flats prices have decreased by an average of €40-50/mt, while on the import side HRC offers have trended on a more stable trend, indicating an average decrease of just €20/mt.
