SteelOrbis has learned that in the local Italian flat steel market the range of domestic producers' prices has narrowed in comparison with the very wide price range recorded one week ago, even though the difference between the lower and upper ends is still unusual because of the frequent adjustments in the market and since not all producers alter their price lists at the same time.
During the past week, domestic cold rolled coil (
CRC) prices in
Italy have increased by €10/mt on the lower end and decreased by €20/mt on the upper end to €600-640/mt ($561-598/mt) ex-works. In the same period, hot dip
galvanized (HDG) coil prices have risen by €60/mt on the lower end and decreased by €20/mt on the upper end to €620-650/mt ($663-696/mt) ex-works, while hot rolled coil (
HRC) prices have moved up by €30/mt on the lower end to €500-550/mt ($535-589/mt) ex-works.
At the moment, flat steel prices in
Italy are still supported by EU antidumping cases and by current levels of raw material prices. On the end-users' side, November brought some signs of improvement, with customers starting to accept some of the price increases which distributors and service centers in turn had to accept when buying from producers.
