Brazil exported 9,400 mt of Galvalume in April, 15 percent less than in March, at an average FOB price increased by 23.5 percent to $705/mt, according to the country’s ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.
The volume was almost entirely shipped from the CSN Galvasud plant in the state of Parana, and destined to the US.
An industry source told SteelOrbis that the higher price still reflects increased demand from the US, coupled to a reduced availability of the product. The price deal for the April shipments was probably closed in February.
The source mentioned that the most recent deals for the export of Galvalume were closed at $800/mt, FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in April 6,400 mt of Galvalume and other Al-Zn coated products from China in average at $485/mt, FOB conditions.
