Brazil exported 17,300 mt of CRC in April, 33 percent less than in March, at an average FOB price 6.7 percent lower, $651/mt, according to the country’s ministry of development industry and foreign trade, MDIC.
Exports by Usiminas were priced in the $649/mt to $693/mt FOB range, and by CSN at $647/mt FOB, on deals probably closed on February.
A source from a major producer told SteelOrbis that his last export deal for CRC was closed at $560/mt FOB, stable in one month.
The US (11,000 mt at $649/mt FOB) and Canada (5,700 mt at $647/mt FOB) were the main destinations of CRC in April.
Meanwhile, the country imported 21,600 mt of CRC in April at $599/mt FOB in average, of which 18,900 mt from China at $574/mt and 900 mt from the EU at $677/mt.
In the Brazilian domestic market, CRC remain sold at BRL2,550/mt ($842/mt), FOB all taxes except IPI, stable in BRL since a 5.2 percent increase in January.
