PPGI demand remains on low side in Turkey

While pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) demand was expected to increase in line with the improved weather conditions in the local Turkish market, the anticipated recovery has not materialized. The stagnancy in the overall flat steel market also extends to the PPGI market. In the Turkish domestic market, RAL 9002 0.5 mm 100 gr/m² zinc coated pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) prices are standing at $930-950/mt + VAT ex-works at the moment, and quotations are not expected to show changes in the current month. However, if demand fails to improve before the end of next month, prices are likely soften in the Turkish domestic market.
 
Meanwhile, export prices are standing almost at the same levels as domestic quotations amid current low demand. Turkish mills are willing to reduce their offers by as much as $20-30/mt for high volume purchases both in the domestic and export markets.
