During the week ending July 14, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have indicated an overall uptrend, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, PPGI prices in China have increased as upstream hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have been moving on a rising trend. Meanwhile, most major steelmakers in China have raised their ex-works prices for August shipment, exerting a positive impact on the PPGI market, while PPGI prices have also received additional support from decreases in inventory levels in the market. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move up further in the coming week.
