During the week ending April 22, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have continued to rise, while transaction activity has been at good levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, the ongoing rises seen in domestic prices of hot rolled coil (HRC) have provided support for the further upward movement of PPGI prices in the local Chinese market. Meanwhile, short supply in the PPGI spot market has also boosted PPGI prices. In addition, inventory levels held by PPGI traders are at relatively low levels, and this has also contributed to the upward movement of the PPGI market. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up further in the coming week.
