Brazil exported 472,000 mt of slab in September, 4.1 percent more than in August, at an average price reduced by 9.4 percent to $358/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in July.

The increased volume reflects chiefly the 100,000 mt exported by Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem (CSP), the recently inaugurated slab producer located in the northeastern state of Ceara, which had exported 19,000 mt in August.

According to the local press, exports by CSP are facing a bottleneck in the logistics supplied by the Ceara authorities, as the ramp-up process of the production facilities is ahead of scheduled.
Exports by ArcelorMittal Tubarao increased by 30 percent to 193,200 mt, while exports from ThyssenKrupp CSA declined by 33 percent to 138,200 mt and exports by Gerdau Acominas declined by 49 percent to 40,600 mt.

The exports of ArcelorMittal Tubarao in September were priced at $362/mt, by ThyssenKrupp CSA at $360/mt, by CSP at $318/mt and by Gerdau Acominas at $431/mt, all FOB conditions.
The most recent Brazilian slab export deals were reportedly closed in a range of $320/mt to $340/mt, FOB conditions, for the product of the basic commercial grades.

The main destinations of the Brazilian slab in September were the EU (206,300 mt), the US (127,300 mt) and Asia (95,800 mt), while smaller tonnages were shipped to Canada (16,400 mt), Turkey (14,700 mt) and Morocco (11,400 mt).
