SteelOrbis has learned that Mexican import prices for HRC from China are reaching $350-360/mt CFR LO.

Mexican importers need to add a 15 percent provisional imports tariff, which was recently applied by the nation’s economy secretariat, SE, for certain steel products. The products subject to the provisional duty are slab, CRC, HRC, heavy plate and wire rod imports.

Sources also noted that Japan is offering cheaper HRC compared to China, with a price difference up to $8-10/mt CFR LO.
