Mexican domestic hot dipped galvanized (HDG) prices fell US$44/mt in the last month to reach US$779/mt ex-mill.

The rise of the automobile industry in Mexico is still driving demand for flat steel products, however the behavior of the exchange rate this week is discouraging producers--the Mexican peso closed at US$15.55.

However, distribution sector sources project that the acquisition of special steels for machinery and equipment for the industry will grow 15 percent this year, also driven by the aerospace industry.
