Mexican CRC prices take a slight hit

In the last two weeks, the price of Mexican domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) fell US$13/mt to reach US$851/mt ex-mill.

The price behavior of some flat steel products in the global market is influenced by Chinese exports, which has reduced prices in some markets to levels so low the domestic prices in those countries cannot compete. Still, the automotive sector in Mexico is expected to grow by 24 percent in 20 years (which is double the growth in the last 20 years), and sources hope the gradual, but steady increase in demand in Mexico will offset the import situation.
