Local Turkish steel plate spot market trends sideways

During the past two weeks, demand in the Turkish domestic steel plate spot market has remained slack. Despite the declines recorded in hot rolled coil (HRC) quotations and weak demand, prices in the Turkish domestic steel plate market have remained stable, since traders currently have high-priced steel plate inventories. However, traders are still offering discounts in actual transactions due to decreases in volumes of inquiries.

SteelOrbis has learned that traders' prices for stock material St37 grade steel plate in Turkey's Gebze and Eregli regions for June deliveries are as follows:

Thickness x width

Price ($/mt)

Gebze

Eregli

4-12 mm x 1,500 mm

550-570

15-40 mm x 1,500 mm

565-585

545-565

15-40 mm x 2,000 mm

595-615

585-590

The above prices are ex-warehouse and for advance payments, exclusive of 18 percent VAT.
