Although demand in the local Turkish pre-painted
galvanized (PPGI) coil market is still at low levels, the strengthening of demand for
coated steel from export markets since the beginning of February has boosted the orders received by Turkish mills. Meanwhile, prices in the local Turkish PPGI market have increased by $10/mt on the lower end week on week. In the coming period, domestic PPGI prices in
Turkey are expected to rise further with the influence of the upward movement of raw material quotations and the expectations of an increase in hot rolled coil (HRC) prices.
Turkish mills' local prices for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-
coated PPGI are at $940-985/mt, while their offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $790-810/mt and prices for 1 mm RAL 9002 are at $680-725/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.
Additionally, demand for Turkish PPGI in the export markets has remained strong, while Turkish producers' PPGI offer prices for the export markets have also increased in parallel with the rises seen in domestic PPGI quotations to $760-780/mt FOB, indicating a $10/mt rise on the lower end.
