During the week ending January 5, the average prices of Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) have declined, while overall transaction activity in the market has been at low levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, HDG prices in the domestic spot market have decreased due to slack demand from downstream buyers. Liquidity among domestic steel enterprises is tight approaching the Chinese New Year Holiday and HDG inventories have increased, and these factors will exert a negative impact on HDG prices in the spot market. It is thought that the Chinese domestic HDG market will likely continue its declining trend in the coming week.
