Flat steel product demand in the Italian market is currently low, with end-users asking for lower prices, while producers are seeking to increase their prices further. Since Italian mills are not able to make HDG deliveries until the end of May or June, HDG prices may see significant increases.
In the local Italian market, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices have moved up by €10 on the upper end to €535-560/mt ($567-594/mt) ex-works, cold rolled coil (CRC) prices risen by €10/mt on the upper end to €630-665/mt ($668-705/mt), and hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have increased by €10/mt on the lower end and by €15/mt on the upper end to €650-675/mt ($689-715/mt) ex-works, all week on week. Accordingly, Italian local flat steel prices have moved closer to the prices seen in northern Europe.
According to market sources close to SteelOrbis, HRC prices in northern Europe are at €590-600/mt ($625-636/mt) ex-works, transactions are in the range of €560-570/mt ($594-604/mt).
