Even though import flat steel purchases are almost completed in the local Turkish market, demand has remained on the weak side, with the influence of the further appreciation of the US dollar against the Turkish lira. Inquiries for import materials coming from Turkish buyers, who have concluded deals for approximately 80,000-90,000 mt of import hot rolled coil (HRC) in total over the past two weeks, have significantly decreased as of this week. Meanwhile, against the backdrop of these transactions, flat steel offers have softened by $10/mt over the past month.
In the meantime, Ukrainian HRC offers for Turkey are now at $545-550/mt CFR, while Ukrainian cold rolled coil (CRC) offers are at $625-630/mt CFR. Meanwhile, ex-Russia HRC offers stand at $560-615/mt CFR, while Russian CRC offers can be found at $725-745/mt CFR. In addition, Slovakian HRC offers to Turkey are at $565/mt CFR.
On the other hand, Romanian flat steel import offers for Turkey have not been heard in the market yet, though the latest ex-Romanian HRC deal has been concluded in Turkey at $580-585/mt CFR.
