Demand for imported plate in Turkey has remained low, while prices have remained almost neutral since last week. In the meantime, some steel mills in Europe are expected to reduce their plate production. Meanwhile, Bulgarian producer Stomana has not yet announced its plate prices to Turkey and has continued to adopt a wait-and-see stance, amid fluctuations in the euro-dollar exchange rate and finds plate prices in Turkey too low to compete with. The mill is anticipated to focus on European markets during this period.

Currently, steel plate offers to Turkey given by Ukrainian steel producer Alchevsk Iron and Steel Works are standing at $570-575/mt CFR for late September production, while another Ukrainian mill Ilyich Iron & Steel Works is offering end of September output plate to Turkey at the base price level of $570-575/mt CFR. In addition, Macedonian mill Makstil's offers are currently standing at $740/mt CFR for late September rolling.
