According to market sources, Polish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations have started to decline since the beginning of the current week.

Market sources state that producers in the local Polish PPGI market especially plants belonging to major steel producers such as Arcelor Mittal, Marcegaglia & Arvedi, and Tata are under threat from the cheaper PPGI offers from Taiwan and India.

In the local Polish market, prices of locally produced PPGI of 0.45 mm thickness made to Z225-275 PE25 coating standard are approximately in the range of €770-810/mt ($963-1,013/mt) delivered. Both Taiwanese and Indian PPGI offers to Poland are currently at €765/mt ($956/mt) delivered, while discounts are available for higher tonnages. The low import offers have been putting downward pressure on prices of locally produced PPGI.
