Import HRC prices move up in Omani market

After Russian hot rolled coil (HRC) import offers to Oman moved up last week, Ukrainian origin HRC offers to the country have also indicated an increase, rising by $5-10/mt this week. However, the new prices have failed to gain acceptance in the market as Omani buyers find them to be on the high side. In addition, increased prices are considered to be the main factor preventing demand from recovering.
 
SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that Russian origin HRC import offers to Oman are still standing at $590-600/mt CFR, while Ukrainian HRC offers to Oman are now at $565-570/mt CFR. The offers, which exclude VAT, are for advance payment and for January shipments.
