A source from a major distributor in South Brazil told SteelOrbis that he remains selling HRC of the basic commercial grades at BRL2,230/mt (718/mt), FOB, full taxes except IPI, the same price since a 6.6 percent increase in February.
The source said that sales in volume were drastically reduced on yearly basis, reflecting the lackluster performance of most sectors of the industrial activity, chiefly those linked to the auto industry and to works related to the oil company Petrobras, currently under investigation for accusations of corruption.
A source from a major exporter told SteelOrbis that, for export, he is negotiating HR coils of the basic commercial grades at $440/mt, FOB conditions, against $460/mt in March, under the same conditions.
In May, Brazil exported 186,700 mt of HRC at an average FOB price of $473/mt, with exports by ArcelorMittal Tubarao at $383/mt, by Usiminas at $763/mt and by CSN at $399/mt.
Price deals for such exports were probably closed on March.
