Chatter about a possible antidumping / countervailing duty case against Turkish and Vietnamese producers of
US import cold rolled coil (
CRC) continue to permeate the market, but some trader sources have been quick to point out that “cutting off all cold rolled imports, which is essentially what an action against Turkey and Vietnam would move to do, could have a big impact on downstream costs,” one source said. “That washing machine you paid $500 for today could wind up costing $1000 based on manufacturers’ input costs.”
Current
US import
CRC offer prices from Turkey continue to trend at $30-$31 cwt. ($661-683/mt or $600-$620/nt), DDP loaded Truck in
US Gulf coast ports. Offer prices Vietnamese
CRC producers are still being heard at $29-$30 cwt. ($639-$661/mt or $580-$600/nt), DDP loaded truck in

In terms of
US domestic spot market prices, those have ticked down by approximately $1.00 cwt. ($22/mt) since out last report a week ago, which brings the current average range to $38.50-$39.50 ($848-$871/mt or $770-$790/nt) ex-Midwest mill, but as with last week, sources close to SteelOrbis have said that deals slightly below this range are “very likely out there for volume buyers.”
