How are concerns over a potential trade case impacting US import HDG?

An official trade case filing against offshore producers of US import hot dipped galvanized (HDG) has not yet been announced, but the rumors themselves seem to be enough to have taken a great number of traders out of the market.  SteelOrbis sources say that if the announcement is put to paper, they expect China, India and Taiwan to be on the list of named countries, and because of that many are looking to mills in different counties to fill potential orders.

“The psychological aspect is significant enough that it’s causing some concern when it comes to booking from those countries,” said one Midwest-based trader.  And although the most commonly reported futures prices from India and China have held steady since our last report a week ago, interest in booking tons from these countries continues to trend light.
