Amid the arrival of higher-priced materials in their inventories last week, traders' increased domestic price levels have gained acceptance from buyers in the Turkish domestic flat steel spot market. Insufficient order entries at the mills for April and significant availability shortages in the spot market have helped the higher prices to gain acceptance.
In the spot market, where demand has remained on the poor side, insufficient order entries at the mills due to higher prices have escalated the availability shortages which have been witnessed since 2012, while this problem is valid especially for cold rolled and hot rolled pickled and oiled products.
Market sources indicate that a number of traders have withdrawn from the market recently, while traders still in the market are adopting a cautious approach in buying-selling activity, focusing on maintaining customer portfolios and on limited valid demand.
