A market source in Brazil told SteelOrbis that export deals for Galvalume have maintained the same pace seen before the recent 8 percent price increase.
“It seems that the new price was well accepted by the foreign clients,” the source added.
Galvalume is currently exported from Brazil at $864/mt, FOB conditions, while is sold in the country’s domestic market at the equivalent to $980/mt, FOB, no taxes included.
In June, Brazil exported 12,100 mt of Galvalume at $725/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in April. The volume was entirely shipped by the flats producer CSN to clients in the US.
During the first half of 2016, Brazil exported 62,100 mt of Galvalume, of which 61,000 mt to the US, at an average FOB price of $692/mt.
The volume shipped to the US during the first half of 2016 was three times larger than the volume shipped during the first half of 2015.
