Brazilian imports of Galvalume and similar products reached 16,200 mt in April, down 24 percent from March, at an average FOB price 3 percent lower, at $711/mt.

According to the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC, the product was almost entirely imported from China.

In April, Brazil exported 6,900 mt of the product, at an average price of $887/mt FOB, against $899/mt FOB in March, of which 6,000 mt was exported by ArcelorMittal to Argentina at $885/mt FOB.

A major distributor in the south of Brazil told SteelOrbis that he remains selling the product at BRL3,200/mt ($1,070/mt), FOB full taxes except IPI, stable since a 13.5 percent increase two months ago.

The source said that the domestic sales of the product were severely reduced, reflecting the lackluster performance of the country’s economy.
