As of March 30, steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market are higher compared to one week ago, while transaction activity in the market was better compared to the previous week in the first half of the week, while weakening in the latter part of the week, overall remaining on the sluggish side. Average steel plate prices in China can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the first half of the given week, steel plate prices indicated upward movement amid the sharp rise of semi-finished steel prices. However, in the latter part of the week, downstream users have shown reluctance to accept higher prices. Meanwhile, semi-finished steel prices started to indicate a downward movement and steel futures prices have also softened, resulting in a declining trend in steel plate prices and slower transaction activity. It is expected that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will move sideways in the coming week.
