Flat steel prices move upward in Vietnam after New Year holiday

The Vietnamese flat steel market has been very quiet in the past week due to the New Year holiday. However, with the return of players to the market following the holiday, prices have indicated increases. Nevertheless, so far there is hardly any activity observed in the local Vietnamese market.
 
Meanwhile, hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in the Vietnamese market have increased by $20/mt since last week and are now at $620-630/mt ex-works, while cold rolled coil (CRC) prices are at $740-750/mt ex-works, up $10-15/mt week on week. In the meantime, rerolling quality HRC prices for 2 mm are currently at $630-640/mt ex-works, indicating an increase of $20/mt over the same period.
 
On the other hand, HRC offers from China to Vietnam have also moved up by $20/mt as compared to last week to $600-605/mt CFR.
