Last month, the Turkish flat steel import market remained quiet, with Turkish buyers focusing mainly on meeting their needs from the domestic market, as they have found the increased import offers to be on the high side.
In the coming days,
CIS flat steel producers are expected to announce their flat steel offers to
Turkey for March rolling.
SteelOrbis has learned from market sources that, although
Russia's largest steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (
MMK) has not yet officially announced its offers for March production, the producer is expected to offer hot rolled coil (
HRC) to
Turkey at $650/mt CFR, while its cold rolled coil (
CRC) offers are predicted to be at $725/mt CFR. Early next week, the producer is anticipated to issue its offers for the Turkish market.
In the meantime, although another Russian steel producer
Severstal has not yet released its offers to
Turkey for March production either, the producer is expected to keep its offers level as compared to its prices for February production, which were at $650/mt CFR for
HRC and at $725/mt CFR for
CRC.
On the other hand, it is heard that this week a batch of
Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol (
Ilyich) production
HRC was sold in the Turkish market via traders at $600/mt CFR.
