For the week ended November 28 and into the early part of the week ended December 2, Chinese offers delivered to Chile for flats were as follows: HRC at $495-505 CFR, CRC at $560-580/mt CFR, HDG at $630-645/mt CFR, and heavy plate at $460-475/mt CFR.
On the Friday for the week ended December 2, offers for flats to Chile are up further despite volatility within the week in the Chinese steel and futures markets that caused some buyers to adopt a wait-and-see perspective. Market sources close to SteelOrbis report HRC at $500-510/mt CFR, CRC at $590-605/mt CFR, HDG $640-650/mt CFR, heavy plate at $465-480/mt CFR, all prices delivered to Chilean port. These offers reflect an additional increase of $5/mt on HRC and heavy plate, $25-30/mt on CRC, and $10/mt on HDG compared to offers heard early in the week.
Offers for finished steel goods continued moving up globally this week despite mixed sentiment in the Chinese steel market and a calmer coking coal market- compared to its recent historical trend.
