Ex-China flat steel offers to Chile increase

On the Friday for the week ended December 2, SteelOrbis reported ex-China offer to Chile for HRC at $500-510/mt CFR, CRC at $590-605/mt CFR, HDG $640-650/mt CFR, heavy plate at $465-480/mt CFR, all prices delivered to Chilean port. These offers reflected an increase from offers heard early in the week.

Offers for the week ended December 9, are as follows delivered to Chile: HRC at $510-515/mt CFR, CRC at $595-610/mt CFR, HDG at $640-665/mt CFR and heavy plate at $475-490 CFR. New offers reflect an increase of $5-10/mt on HRC, an increase of $5/mt on CRC, a widening by $15/mt on the top side of the HDG range, and an increase of $10/mt on heavy plate.

A source close to SteelOrbis noted, “Offers from China have time limits to motivate transactions and give themselves flexibility to update offers when prices are moving up - as prices have recently. We see mixed sentiment in the market from buyers.”
