On May 12, SteelOrbis reported basic commercial grade slab trading at $415/mt FOB from Brazil to the US.

According to sources, the most recent slab deals from Brazil to the US have traded at $405-410/mt FOB Brazil. Transactions in early April were heard at $415-420/mt FOB Brazil. The latest transactions represents a decline of $10/mt in one month.

Offers to the US market are presently heard at $410-415/mt FOB. Sources note that slab prices have been under pressure recently as a result of low Chinese steel in the market, market uncertainty and lower raw material costs.
