During the past week, buyers in the European flat steel market have stepped up their purchases in the belief that prices have hit bottom, resulting in improved demand. Supported by the upward trend of global raw material and flat steel prices, hot rolled coil prices in Europe have moved up and other flat steel product prices in the region are expected to increase in the short term as well.

Hot rolled coil (HRC) prices in Europe have increased by €10/mt over the past week to €440-480/mt ($506-552/mt), while cold rolled coil (CRC) and hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices have remained stable in the same period at €530-570/mt ($609-655/mt) and €560-610/mt ($644-701/mt), all ex-works.
