According to sources, flat steel prices have remained mostly stable in the past week both in Europe and in
Italy.
Currently, flat steel base prices in Europe are at €530-575/mt ($562-610/mt) for hot rolled coil (
HRC), at €640-680/mt ($678-721/mt) for cold rolled coil (
CRC) and at €630-680/mt ($668-721/mt) for hot dip
galvanized (HDG) coils, all ex-works. As reported previously, the prices at the higher ends of the ranges are prevalent in northern Europe, while the prices at the lower end of the above ranges are prevalent in southern Europe - in
Italy the most widespread prices for
HRC are in the range of €530-550/mt ($562-583/mt) ex-works.
Meanwhile, ArcelorMittal is targeting €600/mt ($636/mt) ex-works for its
HRC in the second quarter. Sources have told SteelOrbis that the few import offers given to Europe are coming from Turkey, India and Egypt. Specifically,
HRC offers from Turkey are at $510-520/mt FOB.
