Demand in the Turkish pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) market, where prices have remained stable for the second week in a row, is still on the weak side. Market players state that the price increase in the hot rolled coil (HRC) market has not impacted prices of hot dip galvanized (HDG) products, and so no price increase has been reported in the PPGI market yet.
Turkish mills' local offers for RAL 9002 0.3 mm 100 gr/m² zinc-coated PPGI are standing at $1,030-1,080/mt, while offers for RAL 9002 0.5 mm are at $890-940/mt and prices for RAL 9002 1 mm stand at $810-850/mt. All the offers in question are on ex-works basis and exclude 18 percent VAT.
In the meantime, demand for Turkish PPGI exports is still limited and PPGI export offers from Turkey are still under pressure from competitive Chinese offers, with buyers finding the Turkish offers to be on the high side. Ex-Turkey PPGI offers, which have been stable over the past two weeks, currently vary at $875-925/mt FOB for September production.
