Demand still lackluster in local Chinese HDG market

During the week ending August 7, Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) prices have generally followed a stable trend, while transaction activity has remained at low levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, demand for HDG in the domestic market has remained slack, while lower-priced HDG from private sector steelmakers have resulted in slight fluctuations in prices in certain regions. Market participants mostly think that major domestic steelmakers like Baosteel will keep their prices stable for September shipment. It is expected that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will indicate a sideways trend in the coming week.
