Demand mostly remains weak in Turkish HDG market

According to market sources, demand for Turkish hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil in the local market continues to be characterized by weakness. Market sources state that some producers and buyers hold a pessimistic view of the prospects for the market amid consistently sluggish demand, though it is heard that some producers have started to conclude deals for February production. The reasons for the slack demand for galvanized products in the Turkish steel market are thought to be the continuing downtrend of Turkish domestic HRC prices over the past two months and the weak activity in the Turkish construction sector due to seasonal factors.

In the Turkish domestic market, HDG sales prices have remained unchanged over the past week and are currently as follows:

ProductPrice ($/mt)
HDG   0.50 mm  100gr/m²755-790
HDG   1 mm  100gr/m²705-740
HDG   2 mm  100gr/m²690-710

The above prices, which may differ depending on product quality, are ex-works, exclude VAT, and are for advance payments.

On the other hand, ex-Turkey HDG offers have remained stable compared to last week at the range of $735-760/mt FOB for shipments in January and February.
