During the week ending January 12, the Chinese hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has been following a stable trend, while market activity has been very sluggish. Average HDG prices in the main Chinese markets can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

As the Spring Festival approaches, some HDG traders have already made an early exit from the market. Several producers have reported that an increase in inquiries from overseas buyers has been observed recently, and this is expected to provide the producers with some relief. Traders, who have been keeping their inventories at low levels in recent times, are now switching their focus to the post-holiday market. On the whole, most traders are now more confident as regards the prospects for the post-holiday period.

It is expected that HDG prices in China will continue to follow a stable trend in the coming week.
