Little has changed in terms of US import pricing for hot dipped galvanized (HDG) from India and China, as futures offers have remained neutral for the past two weeks. However, Chinese mills are continuing to quote aggressively, according to trader sources, and are eager to fill their order books with US-bound tons. In terms of currently arriving material, June 24 data released by the Steel Monitoring Import and Analysis (SIMA) shows US hot dipped galvanized import tonnages from China for last month had reached 52,003 mt (license data) whereas import tonnages from India had reached 31,109 mt (license data). For the month of May, import tonnages from China and India have been tallied at 81,155 mt and 43,656 mt, respectively.
