Chinese flat steel export offer prices have decreased over the past week. At present, export offers for boron-added 5.75 mm hot rolled coil (HRC) given by Chinese suppliers are at $430-450/mt FOB, while export offers for 1.0 mm cold rolled coil (CRC) given by Chinese suppliers are in the range of $510-530/mt FOB.
Against the background of sharp declines in ferrous metal futures prices in China and with prices of HRC and CRC in the Chinese domestic market softening, flat steel export offer prices from China have also decreased. However, in the latter part of the past week, major steelmakers in China, including Baosteel and Wuhan Iron and Steel Group, have increased their ex-works prices for flat steel for June delivery, thereby providing some support for export offer prices. It is thought that flat steel export offer prices from China will unlikely soften sharply in the coming week, but may instead fluctuate within a limited range or soften slightly.
