During the week ending April 21, average prices of pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) in the Chinese domestic market have continued to decline, while transaction activity in the domestic market has improved and is now at low-to-medium levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, local traders have lowered their PPGI prices in order to sell off products, resulting in better transaction activity. However, ferrous metal futures prices in China have rebounded in recent days, providing some degree of support for PPGI prices in the spot market. With the downward movement of domestic finished steel prices having slowed down, it is expected that PPGI prices in the local Chinese market will just move sideways in the coming week.
