During the week ending July 14, the Chinese domestic hot dip galvanized (HDG) market has mostly indicated a stable trend. Overall transaction activity in the market has improved a little though it still remains at low levels. Average HDG prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, the rising trends of domestic hot rolled coil (HRC) and cold rolled coil (CRC) prices, supply shortages and difficult transportation conditions during the rainy season have all provided support for the stability of domestic HDG prices, while some traders may seek to raise their offer prices in the coming week. In the past week, major Chinese steelmaker Baosteel has issued its ex-works prices for August delivery, keeping its HDG prices stable. It is thought that HDG prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely edge up in the coming week, especially if demand improves further.
