Brazilian producers continue to negotiate slab for export at $400/mt to $405/mt, FOB conditions for basic commercial grades, a local exporter told SteelOrbis.

The price is the same as last week, the source said, adding that despite the stability, a reduction is expected in the near future, to keep Brazilian offers line with international prices.

In April, Companhia Siderurgica do Pecem exported slabs at $403/mt, ArcelorMittal Tubarao at $457/mt, and ThyssenKrupp CSA at $435/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in February.

Preliminary figures by Brazil’s customs authorities point to a significant increase, from April to May, of the volume of slabs exported by the country.
