Brazil exported 12,100 mt of Galvalume in June, 12.6 percent more than in May, at an average price slightly reduced to $725/mt, FOB conditions, with price deals probably closed in April.
All the volume was shipped by the flats producer CSN and destined to clients in the US, according to the local ministry of development, industry and foreign trade, MDIC.
A local industry source said that the most recent deals for the export of Galvalume were closed at $864/mt, FOB conditions, after an 8 percent increase was adopted late last month for both domestic and export prices.
In Brazil, CSN and ArcelorMittal are licensed to produce Galvalume by BIEC, but ArcelorMittal is usually focused in the domestic market, while CSN serves both domestic and export markets.
Under normal market conditions, the combined production of CSN and ArcelorMittal is not sufficient to supply the local market, so small tonnages are imported, usually from China.
In June, Brazil imported 2,200 mt of Galvalume from China at $570/mt, FOB conditions, against 13,600 mt at $513/mt in May.
In the domestic market, the price of Galvalume is equivalent to $980/mt, FOB conditions, no taxes included.
